This section of the Islamic manuscripts site contains electronic publications which have no equivalent on paper. Usually they are shorter contributions to the field of study, remarks on details of manuscripts, smaller discoveries, etc. Readers are invited to submit their own study notes, preferably with images, for publication in this section. Older publications in other, now possibly obsolete sites, are especially welcome. Articles are arranged by author, in reverse chronological order of publication. (866 AD).
This is MS Leiden Or. 298. Arabic, paper, 241 ff., upright script (with application of ihmal),
dated Dhu al-Qa`da 252 (f. 241b; 866 AD), and thereby probably the oldest
dated Arabic manuscript on paper, bound in a full-leather standard Library
binding.
The present volume contains an incomplete copy of Gharib al-Hadith,
by Abu `Ubayd al-Qasim b. Sallam al-Baghdadi (d. 223/837) ... Full
